The Procurement Department of the Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi is saddled with the responsibility of utilizing public funds as appropriated by the Federal Government of Nigeria to acquire goods, works and services for the Institute following due process and guidelines as stipulated by the Public Procurement Act 2007 and as overseen by the Bureau of Public Procurement.

The Procurement Department of the Institute thrives on Integrity and Transparency with a mandate to ensure that the best possible outcome is derived after every Procurement process.

The Department is also responsible for the placement of advertisement in National Newspapers and the Federal Tenders Journal to solicit for bids in compliance with guidelines set out by the Public Procurement Act 2007 for the execution of contracts.  In addition, the department receives bids and maintains appropriate documentation of Procurement process and documents.  Subsequent upon the receipt of the bids, they are examined to certify that they comply with the extant rules and ensure proper and adequate running of the entire Procurement process to the latter, including the payment process on Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) platform.

The Department is divided into three Divisions;

  1. The Recurrent Procurement Division: The division handles all activities pertaining to Tenders, Tender Certification, Tender Process, Evaluation and Certification for all Recurrent Expenditure.
  2. The Capital Procurement Division: This division is in charge of Monitoring and Compliance, Price Intelligence, Compliance Database, Technical/Standard Bid Specification, Technical Audit, Database Management, Bid Tenders, Tender Certification, Tender Process, Evaluation and Certification for all Capital Expenditure.
  3. Supplies Management Division: This division is responsible for the Receipt and Proper Documentation of Goods Procured for the Institute, Proper Record Keeping, Storage, Distribution of Goods Procured and the Maintenance of Chemicals, Stationery, Engineering Tools and the Junk Store.
